Morro Bay Whale Watching offers great views aboard the “Dos Osos,” an open multi-hull boat that cruises above water with below water viewing. It includes humpback whale watching, May through October. Watch the whales feed and frolic near Morro bay on the Central Coast. Gray whales migrate through the area as early as November until March and you may be lucky enough to see them also. Over 24,000 whales pass our coast to and from Alaska and Mexico during these months. You can rent SUPs (standup paddleboards), canoes and kayaks for self-guided tours in the bay.

Love horses? Want to do a trail ride on the most gentle horse in the world?

Covell Ranch is one of the only places in the world you can ride a Clydesdale horse. They are a Scottish breed of draught horse made famous by the Budweiser commercials. Domesticated more than 4,000 years ago, it has one of the smoothest gaits available in the equine world providing a very pleasurable riding experience. This breed is noted for its very calm, collected and gentle manner and their kind relationship with people. While best known for agriculture and hauling coal in their native Scotland, they are used for showing and pleasure today in the United States. Covell Ranch is a 2,000 acres of family-owned ranch land, that includes endangered Monterey Pine forests and rolling California hills.

A different kind of outdoor tour

Fly back in time! Get a bird’s eye of Pismo Beach while sitting in the open cockpit of a 1942 WW2 Boeing Stearman. These planes primarily served as trainers for the United States Army Air Forces, the United States and with the Royal Canadian Air Force throughout World War II. After the conflict was over, thousands of surplus aircraft were sold on the civilian market. In the immediate postwar years they became popular as crop dusters, sports planes, and for aerobatic and wing walking use in air shows. This “yellow biplane” is a familiar piece of Pismo Beach as it takes its passengers for sightseeing tours and/or thrill rides along the coast.

Take a picnic and a beach towel too. But, watch the tide and the wind. It could come up and surprise you. Don’t forget to put on sunscreen.

SUP surfing at sunset — Stand up paddlers use their paddles to propel them through the water. Getting the speed you need to catch a wave is good exercise, and once you can catch that wave, it’s the same surf-stoke you would experience with a surfboard.

Fishing from a charter boat from Morro Bay — Fishing is one thing, catching is something very different! The fishing charter companies in Morro Bay do a great job in the catching department, and their customers often have happy smiles like this when they return to the dock!

There are three main species that are common here: Gray, Blue and Humpback whales, and there are plenty of opportunities to see them. Additionally, Orcas are often seen in the spring. coeval clydesdale ranch provides trail rides on very gentle giants — Have you ever ridden a Clydesdale? Well here you can take in the vistas of pristine Monterey Pines overlooking the Pacific Ocean, and at the same time you can ride a majestic Clydesdale. They are noted for their size, extreme gentleness and smooth gait. These horses are a true pleasure to ride. At Covell Clydesdale Ranch, near Cambria, you can take a ranch tour by horse or vehicle. The ranch is over 2,000 acres and they have about 100 horses of all ages, sizes and abilities, for riding and/or driving.

Boeing Stearman biplane tour over Pismo Beach — Create a memory for a lifetime when you soar through the blue skies above the beaches of Pismo, Grover, Oceano and Avila and above the vast sand dunes of Osos Flaco, on one of the two aerial excursions offered by Banner Air.
